Cycle “O poema é um animal invencível, ele é a vitória da linguagem”
A verse by poet Nuno Brito inspires this cycle of seven special sessions, included in the Feira do Livro do Porto programme.
To the sound of birdsong, words flow freely in the Palácio de Cristal Gardens.
Seven challenging, intense and varied sessions. A programme built around the celebration of the word. The spoken word, the sung word, the fluid word.
The word fills our hearts, challenging us to dream.
This performance explores the voices that question women’s place in society, the signs of oppression and misogyny in poetry, but also of liberation, desire and resistance. What changed, after all, over the centuries? Has feminism actually carved out its space or is misogyny still finding new ways of reinventing itself? How can we listen to the power of these voices today without acknowledging that the struggle for equality is far from over?
