Synopsis

Novos Contos à Moda do Porto is a collection of short stories, sometimes with surrealist traits but with a great deal of credibility and verisimilitude, bordering on hyper-realism. The plot unfolds throughout the city of Porto, recounting its places, its built heritage and, above all, its people. This book is an emotional itinerary through the city's intricacies, from the best-known and iconic landmarks, such as Clérigos Tower, Luís I Bridge, Ribeira, and the Cathedral, to the less talked about but no less beautiful and picturesque, such as Travessa da Póvoa and its fountain, or Praça da Corujeira. An itinerary that the book itself provides for the most curious readers, who wish to complement the reading of the stories with the enjoyment of the places where they are set. The book also visits certain bars, cafes and tascos in Porto, those that still survive, others that are just history; and others that are threatened by "progress".
